Song - Ennai Thaalaatta Varuvaala

This is my first attempt at singing a full length karaoke song. It is Ennai Thaalaatta Varuvaala from the movie Kaadhalukku Mariyaadhai, one of my all time favorites. I just love the interludes in this song; only the great Ilayaraja can give such beautiful music even in between stanzas. I say this because there was a time when the interlude music in Tamil film songs was rather simple and the very same music was repeated after each stanza. Ilayaraja sir came and changed all that and you know, when a composer has enjoyed composing a song, it really shows in the tune. Hope I can sing more of his melodies.

Song - Mannipaaya

After a short break, here's another song. This time sung by my sister. The song is Mannipaaya from the movie Vinnai Thaandi Varuavaya. Originally recorded on my iPhone using Garageband for iOS, additional sound effects were added by me on the Mac version.

Song - Enna Idhu Enna Idhu

This is a really nice song - Enna Idhu Enna Idhu from the movie Nala Dhamayanthi. The music is by Ramesh Vinayagam and originally sung by Ramesh Vinayagam and Chinmayee. Here's my short version of it.

Song - Pani Vizhum Malarvanam

The third and last post for today: a couple of lines from the song Pani Vizhum Malarvanam. For the uninitiated the movie is Ninaivellam Nithya. The original song was sung by S. P. B. in Ilayaraja's music. S. P. B.'s songs give me a shiver when I think I attempted to sing them.  But like I said in one of the earlier posts I have to keep recording and posting. So anyway, here it is.

Just a small bit of the song Vellai Pookal from Kannathil Mutthamittaal. I have added the Ambient Vocals effect from Garageband as a trial. Here's the original in case you are curious.

Song - Raja Raja Chozhan

One more for the day - the song Raja Raja Chozhan from Rettai Vaal Kuruvi. Composed by the great Ilayaraja, the original song was sung by K. J. Yesudas. I love the guitar bits and bass runs from this song, Of course you won't find these in my silent background version below. ;-).

Song - Yaar Yaar Sivam

Here's the song Yaar Yaar Sivam from the movie Anbe Sivam. Set to tune by Vidyasagar this song is an example of how a simple song, both in lyrics and tune, can become the soul of a movie. The lyrics extends the rationalist thoughts which runs through out the movie. Of course, the movie by itself is a classic. I have not sung the chorus part of the song so it might sound a bit different from the original.

Song - Theerthakarayinile

This song Theerthakarayinile is from the classic movie Varumayin Niram Sivappu. It has beautiful lyrics by Subramania Bharathi set to tune by the great M. S. Viswanathan. You can check out the original song here on youtube.
